Coping with Chronic Illness

Those living with chronic health  conditions have similar experiences in adjusting to life after the diagnosis.  During our work together you learn how to:

  • Manage health
  • Reduce stress
  • Cope with fear and anxiety
  • Increase mindfulness skills
  • Implement values based living

We will focus on processing the emotional impact of a major life change,  increased awareness and understanding of  both depression and anxiety, implementing positive health behaviors via monitoring and practice, and addressing grief and acceptance.

During the intake we will discuss how your illness is impacting your life and what you would like to accomplish during our work together. We will discuss strategies and tactics that will be learned during and practiced at home in order to make the changes needed to obtain your desired goals. Lastly, you will complete several short measurement scales in order to establish a clinical baseline that will also be measured at various times in our work together to asses progress.
