Popular perception has often been that once you go into therapy you may be in there for what feels like forever. For some individuals they choose to take that route, and that’s okay; many others choose to come in, address the current cause of distress, work on specific goals and terminate treatment, and that’s okay too.  There are times in life that can feel overwhelming, scary, frustrating, and hopeless and at those times whatever it is that you’re doing just doesn’t feel effective.  That’s when therapy comes in. A focused period of time, devoted to yourself to address the specific  issue, stressor or hurdle or whatever you’d like to call it and actively making changes on a week to week basis in order to obtain some effectiveness, hope,  relief and   progress.
